The Transatlantics are a Funk and Soul band from Adelaide, South Australia.

The band were formed in 2007〔http://www.soulshine.com.au/article/2010/08/18/877-the-transatlantics.html〕 by Adelaide born musicians Ross McHenry, Lachlan Ridge, Kevin Van Der Zwaag and singer Tara Lynch who still form the core of the band as of 2011.〔http://www.beat.com.au/music/2011/02/11/60-seconds-transatlantics/eddie-bo-hope-we-can-be-together-soon-marvin-gaye-mike-patton-music-popular-culture-p〕 The band came to prominence through gigs with artists such as Eddie Bo, Roy Ayers and Ohmega Watts.〔http://thetransatlantics.com.au/#aboutus〕
After garnering a following within Adelaide throughout 2008, the band embarked on a national tour in 2009 with soul diva, Marva Whitney. The tour was cancelled when Whitney collapsed on stage at a performance at The Falls Festival in Lorne, Victoria. Despite this setback, the band continued to tour and were signed to Freestyle to release their self-titled, debut album in 2010.〔http://www.adelaidereview.com.au/article/342〕
